We pride ourselves on our Zero Impact retro fit systems.
These combine our process and engineering experience to minimise the production impact of upgrading an aging and unreliable control system up to modern standards, with highly ergonmic controls packages.
This panel was a recent example, where not only is most of the control gear obsolete, but progressive years of maintenance had lead to the wiring being in a very poor state, and combined with lost documentation made the panel a potentialy lethal hazard.
Understandbly the customer was having difficulty in keeping this system operating, and had been living with a fault for some time, as even external companies would not tackle fault finding or support on the equipment.
Concept were asked to look at the system, and replaced the complete controls with a new PLC based system which is very much easier to support, and includes the latest in design techniques to simplify the support and operation of the plant.
The New Panel not only offers a modern control solution, but adds simplicity to the design, and greatly enhances the fault finding (the labels on the trunking include english descriptions of the devices). As the system uses software for the sequence control, only the operation of the Inputs and Outputs need to be checked to identify if field sensors and actuators are operating.
The new system also includes full alarm capture for identifying abnormal conditions, or equipment failure, and includes a wide variety of different Logs that log the plant operation, and activities.
It should also be noted that a MODEM is fitted to the new system, allowing it to be remotely supported, or interogated to assist with any process or plant problems.
Below is the before and after fascias for the system. It can be seen that the multiple lamps, push buttons
and switches have been vastly simplified to a single pair of keyswitches. These provide the normal production facilities, but the HMI allows for many additional functions to be performed, thus providing enhanced control over the original complex fasc ia.
