Computationalism is the thesis that claims that to think is computation, or in general, computationalism establish that the cognitive apparatus can be explained by computation.
Computationalism emerged when Alan Turing in 50s wrote his paper "Computing Machinery and Intelligence?" Of course computationalism has had to face objections from science and philosophy. The common argument behind these objects is that mind is in many sense more powerful than a computer.
My view in this respect is that, of course! mind is more than a Turing machine, but I think there are strong reasons to think that we can emulate thought using computers.
Here I formulate a theory called natural computationalism based on natural computation paradigm that use the thesis of "A computable universe" to offer an answer to objections against computationalism.
My approach has had to face objections, of course, for this reason was necessary to be clear what about NC is. We wrote this paper that was introduced in CiE 2017
