Traditional practices native to rural landscapes are at risk of being lost to urbanization & expansion of major city centers as communities try to meet modern-day needs of residents.
By working with local residents, site visits, investigations, & detailed drawings are being created to archive methods at-risk of being lost or forgotten. Incorporating historic, modern, & informal forms of construction, this project supports the heritage & cultural preservation of rural communities. Merging past & present practices, it also aims to identify strategies for sustainable construction practices for the long-term support & recovery of vulnerable populations historically undocumented in planning efforts.
This is an ongoing project. Continuation of the research will focus on flooding risks and adaptive design strategies for responsive flooding in settlement planning.
