As we wade through a sea of grief, we realize how difficult it can be to find resources after losing a loved one during the current COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, Community Healing Spaces is offering an opened community driven support group, dedicated to providing support as we navigate grief and heal from loss. We recognize that each person’s grief is unique. While you may share some commonalities in your experiences, no one will ever grieve like you do. However, the shared experience gently bears witness to the process of reconciling the reality of learning to live without the presence of a loved one. In light of this, Our desire is to create a safe space where folx who are grieving could be connected with resources and community as a means of coping with loss for the purpose of assisting you in your healing and keeping your loved one’s memory alive.
This virtual group will be meeting on a weekly basis.

This workshop will offer folx an opportunity to tune into systems in the body that allow for rest. Especially during these times our fight/flight/freeze/fawn responses can be frequently stimulated, resulting in additional exhaustion, fatigue, and overwhelm. During the workshop individuals will be guided through various short practices that will allow them to reset and renew their bodies, minds, and spirits. These include optional practices such as: a gentle movement practice, a short meditation, journaling, and an opportunity to rest in a supportive way. Participants will be provided with information about additional ways to continue creating space for rest, even after the workshop is complete.

This workshop is designed to create a space where you can reflect on what being an activist looks like to you. Interpersonal violence isn’t only about the perpetrators and victims/survivors; it’s about the culture we have come to create and accept. We all have a role to play and there are countless ways to use your voice. We will focus on the intersectionality of empowerment through creating boundaries, exploring self-care, and finding ways to be an activist in the ever-changing digital world.

Simi Lichtman
LCSW- She, Her, Hers
Our entire lives, we are taught-- usually unintentionally, usually by well-meaning people who love us-- that the emotions that we feel are incorrect, outsized, or misplaced. When we tell a child not to cry, when we tell an adult to calm down, or when we tell a friend to put their problems in perspective, we are telling them that they need to rethink and correct what they're feeling. This doesn't make the feelings go away-- it only makes it harder for us to accept the feelings that are naturally there. In this workshop, Simi will help us identify the feelings we are actually feeling, and explore why it is so important to accept these feelings for what they are instead of minimizing, judging, or rejecting them.

Individuals in recovery, including young people struggling with substances, have been historically marginalized. It is of greater importance on college campuses to provide spaces and staff to help students identify their unhealthy relationship with substances. My aim for this workshop will be to help students identify areas, spaces, and allies on their campuses to address relationships with substances which could impede their college experience and graduation.

Women of color in recovery have historically struggled to find their voice within traditional recovery spaces. The mission of this workshop is to reach out to other women of color across the globe, and create a space where their voices and identities are heard. This workshop aims to address some of the struggles AND triumphs of women in recovery. Our hope is to create an open dialogue where we can help one another heal and strengthen our recovery in this dystopia. It takes a village - Each one teach one! Our saying is “Our common bond is as minorities. We move and dance with authority”.
