I am running for School Board of District 219 because I believe in the power, value and importance of the free and open exchange of ideas and understand the importance of a high quality, well rounded education. As a college professor, I see first-hand how secondary education prepares students for success at the college level and want to contribute my experiences and expertise to this body. I believe that the only way to prepare our children for their future roles as leaders is through a cooperative process that seeks to include all voices, stakeholders and points of view and I will seek to elevate those voices and points of view that have been historically marginalized. I have lived in district 219 with my family since 2012. My child attends Fairview South (district 72) and will attend Niles West starting the fall of 2023. I served as a village commissioner in Skokie for 2 years and have been active in my child’s classrooms across his years in school. I am humbled by the prospect of being chosen to represent my community on the district 219 school board and am running for this position because I believe in the importance of providing our children, the future leaders of our community, with best education possible.
