This is an informational website for the April 6th, 2021 Consolidated Election, specifically focused on the candidates for the Niles High School District 219 School Board, for which there are (3) seats up for School Board Member (4-Year Term).
Candidates who have filed petitions to be on the ballot this year include the following, *listed in order they will be on the ballot:

Candidate Questions
In January, 2021 all candidates were given the opportunity to provide answers to the following questions:

1. Identify the experiences and/or abilities that you believe make you most qualified to serve as a member of the D219 school board. Be sure to discuss any experiences that you have had working on or with an elected board.
2. What is your connection to D219 and do you have any connections to current students? If you have children in the District, would you be willing to recuse on matters that involve your own family when necessary?
2b. How will you approach decisions to be sure that they equitably benefit the most students?
3. Why do you want to be a member of District 219 School Board?
4. In your opinion, what are the strengths and weaknesses of District 219?
5. How do you view the financial management of the district? Do you have any experience with budgets, financing, negotiation and interviewing?
6.What makes an effective School Board Member?
6a. What is an individual School Board Member's role?
6b. Please cite any examples of issues related to this School Board that you believe are very important to this community, and what would you do as a Member of the Board related to these issues?
6c. How would you characterize an optimal Board-Superintendent relationship?
7. District 219, along with its neighboring school districts in the northern suburbs, has one of the highest OEPPs (Operating Expense Per Pupil) in the state. Do you consider that to be a positive or negative attribute of D219? Explain.
7b. If you were charged with implementing cost-saving measures to lower the OEPP, where would you look first for those savings?
8. Do you believe current expenditures that comprise OEPP are equitably distributed, and if not, what might you like to see changed?
9. Please submit a brief biography about yourself for publication on our website. Discuss your career, your volunteer work, your family and your past involvement in the school districts. (Responses should be 1500 words or less).
