Common Sense Swansboro is a group of concerned citizens that want to promote more measured and sustainable growth in our town. Our core tenants are - Conserve, Campaign, and Community.

Advocate for thoughtful land use policies that protect wetlands, farmland, historic sites, and coastal ecosystems
Promote responsible growth aligned with the Town’s Land Use Plan (LUP) and other strategic and comprehensive plans
Support permanent preservation efforts for high-priority conservation and rural areas and strongly oppose the rezoning and development of environmentally sensitive areas

Host public candidate forums and moderated debates to help residents hear directly from those seeking office
Publish candidate questionnaires focused on key issues
Encourage civic participation through voter registration drives and reminders of important election deadlines

Organize meetups and social events to build a coalition of residents who care
Provide easy-to-understand summaries of key documents such as the Land Use Plan (LUP) and zoning maps
Create educational and editorial content to explain local government processes and share informed perspectives on key topics
