White Gas or Coleman fuel

Limited Quantity Instructions for Coleman Fuel / White Gas on Passenger Flights

• The proper shipping name for White Gas or Coleman Fuel is "Petroleum distilates, n.o.s." or "Petroleum products, n.o.s."

• Must be in a Combination package (doesn’t have to be a spec package)

• Inner packaging closures of combination packages containing liquids must be held securely in place by secondary means such as Tape or friction sleeve caps.

• Max net capacity of each inner package - 0.5L (16.9 fl oz §173.27 table 1)

• Max net capacity of each complete package - 1L (33 fl oz §173.27 table 3) (ie: 3-11oz MSR fuel bottles with tape on caps, inside a box or other sturdy container)

CARGO ONLY Instructions for Coleman Fuel / White Gas

• White Gas is shipped as UN1268 Petroleum Distillate N.O.S.  Class III, PG II. (This information can be found my looking at the MSDS)

• All Packaging for Passenger aircraft may also be used in cargo Only shipments

Method Cargo Only

• May be in single packagings for cargo aircraft if in spec containers §173.202(c) (UN3A1 etc). 

  • Closures of packages containing liquids must be held securely in place by secondary means such as Tape or friction sleeves  §173.27(d).

• May be in combination packagings

  • Outer package must be a Spec container §173.202 (UN3A1 metal jerrican (type F 1 Gal or 1 QT)

  • Inner packaging closures of combination packages containing liquids must be held securely in place by secondary means such as Tape or friction sleeves  §173.27(d).

• Max net capacity of each inner package - 10L (2.64 gal §173.27 table 1).

• Max net capacity of each complete package - 60L (15.85 gal §172.101 col 9A)

  • No limit for the number of complete packages
