Instructions for shipping Bear Spray
Bear spray is allowed to be transported by Aircraft on passenger carrying flights.
Bear spray is still a hazardous material and must still have proper paperwork, labeling, and packaging in order to transport.
Bear spray is classified as a ID8000 Consumer Commodity in a Limited Quantity.
Use the partially pre-filled out Hazmat Form, fill in the remaining information.
Bear Spray must be inside some kind of outer packaging (original blister packs are acceptable). The outer package does not have to be a “spec” container. Pre-Labeled Containers provided by Lake Clark Air air are preferred, but any box, or other strong outer package is acceptable. (Only if the proper markings and information is properly displayed on the outside of the package!)
Lake Clark Air Policy requires Bear Spray to be carried outside of the passenger cabin unless it is in an air-tight container provided by Lake Clark Air.
The following must be displayed on the same side of the outer package:
The proper name and material ID number (ID8000)
The ID8000 label and
The “Y” Limited Qty Label
The Name and address of the shipper
Consumer Commodity
ID8000
Name of Shipper
Address of Shipper
Instructions for packaging Bear Spray
(Lake Clark Provided containment)
The containers used for shipping Bear Spray are property of Lake Clark Air and must stay with the pilot to be brought back to Lake Clark Air.
Individual luggage tags or label stickers must be placed on each Bear Spray.
Place the canister of Bear Spray inside the Plastic shipping Cylinder.
If the outer dry-bag enclosure is not going to be used, a shipping tag with the shipper’s Name and Address must be secured to the cap.
Fill out the shipping paper and this container may be shipped, but must remain outside of the cabin area of the aircraft.
Place plastic shipping cylinder inside of the dry bag
Remove as much air as possible from the bag and roll dry-bag enclosure 3 times and fasten buckle.
Attach shipping tag to enclosure buckle with Name and Address of Shipper on Tag.
Fill out the shipping paper. Container is Airtight
