The course assignments and curriculum work synchronously to support your exploration of communication theory analysis. I strive to grade quickly and provide feedback within 7 days of the due date unless otherwise noted by myself. I want you to have the information you need to be start working on the next assignment. You can email me at anytime to discuss your grade and how you can improve!
The final grade is calculated by the amount of points accrued by the end of the semester. If there is an amendment to the point breakdown below, I will notify you via Canvas Announcement. Please see point breakdown and assignments below:
You cannot grow and improve as a student unless you have feedback and guidance from me! I work hard to ensure that you have feedback in ample time for the next assignment. All assignments are graded within 7 days of submission unless otherwise noted in announcements.
Due to the nature of this class, it is important for students to submit assignments on time. I lack the time and flexibility to keep you caught up. However life happens and a little extra grace is appreciated!
All students are granted 3 "Crap Happens" card for most assignments.
Eligible assignments will be left open for 1-4 days past the due date.
You can submit up until the assignment closes so please pay attention to the closing date. Closing dates are non-negotiable.
You MUST put in the comments box: Crap Card I or Crap Card II, etc...
If I get a late submission and there is no comment for which card then it is a zero.
There are no "changing the cards and assignments". So, if you decide you need more time on a larger point assignment but are all out of cards, that's that.

Exams (such as the Midterm and Final)
Other major projects, which will be discussed in class.
It is important to note that a “C” grade on any assignment indicates average performance; it meets the minimum expectations of the assignment, shows organization and source citation, and is not marred by excessive faults in presentation. A “B” grade indicates significantly better than average work; an “A” grade denotes superior work. Grades of “D” or “F” are below average and significantly below average, respectively. It is my belief that each student has the potential to earn the grade they desire in this class.
If you are not receiving the grade you want to receive, please reach out early in the semester so I can support you! I want you to succeed in every way and will help you do so.
By all means, please contact me as soon as possible! I invite discussions regarding your assignments as that is how you grow and learn! Please see my guidelines below:
Students who wish to dispute an assignment grade must do so within 10 days of receipt. Before reaching out to me, think about what exactly you wish to discuss. Do you need to work with me a little more closely in preparation for the next assignment? Are you really struggling with understanding theoretical application? Remember that the assignment criteria and expectations were clearly outlined for you; so, this discussion should revolve around those criteria and how you can improve moving forward.
Any final class grade dispute would be a question of mathematics. All points are tallied at the end of the semester, divided by the number of points possible. If you wish to dispute a final class grade you must submit the Grade Scale/Worksheet and all returned classwork with grades.
Ah, the choice treat! There are opportunities for extra credit but you cannot accrue more than 30 points maximum. So think of extra credit as the ice cream at the end of the meal - it's nice to have but isn't the main course!
