Taking Classes at Come Dance with Us: Ballroom & Latin Dance
Our goal is to create a relaxed supportive environment to teach, learn, and dance.
You never need to have a partner to come to class! We rotate partners in class.
And you defiitely don't need dance experience- We love new dancers.
Our Signature Progressive Group Classes
We take a unique approach to teaching ballroom and Latin Dance.
Traditional ballroom studios primarily offer two options for learning to dance. Private lessons, preferably weekly, and drop-in classes that often are mixed-level. Private lessons are great for learning to dance but weekly lessons can get very expensive very quickly. Drop-in classes are more affordable but can have a different group of students every week who vary in their dance experience making it hard to get any traction to progress in dancing.
The sweet spot is progrssive private group classes.
Our primary focus is on progressive private group classes. Students start with our Intro to Ballroom and Latin Dance with a group of 8-10 students. This class, and our other classes, are all taught in six-week students. The small group format means each student can get individual attention. The group context means that classes are not expensive ($60 for all six weeks, which comes to $10 per class).
After the first class, students move to our Level 2 Ballroom & Latin Dance class, then the Level 3 class, and so on. With our leveled, progressive approach, students are always in classes with students at their level, facilitating their progress.
Through these classes, our studio practice parties, and other events, students get to know one another. We have a supportive fun community who grow together as dancers.
Students' First Class: Intro to Ballroom & Latin Dance
The first class students take is our Intro to Ballroom & Latin dance. This class teaches students the basic of four classic ballroom and Latin dance: Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, and Rumba. The characteristics/styles of each dance are also introduced. The class is designed for new beginners.
Our Intro class provides a great low-pressure opportunity for students to have fun, get some movement, and find out if dance is for them!
Students who continue with their classes through the next levels learn additional dances including tango, swing, salsa, and bachata,
Private Lessons
Some students want to supplement their private group classes with individual private lessons or want to start with private lessons for even faster dance progress. Other reasons some students choose private lessons is so they can schedue lessons around their availability or to prepare for a special event. We have helped many couples put together a first dance for their wedding!
Friday Social Classes and Practice Party
We host dance parties or social classes for our students almost every Friday evening. Students can practice what they have learned in classes and connect with our teachers and other students. A benefit of our private group class approach is that students know one another so always have people to talk and dance with at our partieis and events.
