Combat Judo International™ is a global martial arts organization established in 2015 and located in West Los Angeles, California. All CJI members practice an expression or interpretation of Judo with an emphasis on self-defense rather than sport. This is the common bond shared by the global Combat Judo International™ family.
Registered members include men and women in the field of personal protection or self-defense, traditional martial arts, uniformed soldiers, sailors and airmen, sworn law enforcement, bodyguards, commercial security specialists, and tactical first responders.
Our diverse membership base is non-discriminatory and all-inclusive. Every race, ethnicity, gender, and religion under the sun is part of the CJI family.
Combat Judo International™ is not a new judo system or style, but rather an organization.
Combat Judo International™ is not a diploma mill. CJI does not market worthless Certificates of Competency, or belt rank, or titles of honor in exchange for money.
To earn any credential from CJI, an applicant must successfully pass exhaustive skill assessment testing, undergo peer review assessment and interview with members of CJI's Board of Examiners, and successfully pass a written academic test based on rank-appropriate criteria.
Membership is 100% free of cost.
This organization is not a partner of, nor affiliated with a sport judo regulatory body on any continent. Furthermore, CJI does not seek recognition or approval by a sports budo governing body.
Judo was in its conception and still is today, a formidable method of unarmed self-defense. Indeed, there are expressions of Judo that are not necessarily a style in-per-se, but rather a free expressions of strategies, principles, and techniques drawn from Judo.

An all volunteer staff manages and oversees the administrative operations of Combat Judo International. In the opinion of CJI founders, the unanimous consensus was to avoid placing organization leader under one person. The CJI leadership model is comprised of a five-person Executive Leadership Group (ELG) accountible to the members, and chaired by a Secretary–General, a Director of Operations & Business Development, and Senior Executive Director each of whom together steer the direction of Combat Judo International free of political influence.
