Colossians 1:15-23
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
It is written that we are made in the Image of God...But I might say that God is Sacred, Holy, Perfect, and free of sin -so how can I be like Him?...
Maybe me being created in God's Image is more like this...When we are born we sometimes look like our father, sometimes we do not...But as we raised by him, learn from him and his ways and experience, and his knowledge of his different skills -we can and do become more like him...And through all these experiences with him, we know more about our father and are more like him...So the way we look physically may or may not be there, but our following of his ways have made us more and more like him...Our youngest and young learning years are years of copying and observing the one who is raising us...And thus we do become more like our father, if we love him, copy him and follow his ways...
We might believe that if we follow God and His Ways and His Word, we become more Spiritual and know more about Him...The more we learn from Him and His Word the closer we get to His Image...The Great Saints tried hard to follow His commands and His Word and they were like God in that respect, and they were close to His Image...The Great Saints represent God's Ways, His Word, His Will, and His Commands, and in this respect they are like His Image...
Jesus who followed God's Word and His Will the best any man has ever done, is God's Image...Jesus has the essence of God...Jesus is the Image of the Invisible God...He is the firstborn over all creation...For in Jesus all things were created both things in heaven and things on earth...All things have been created through Him and for Him...He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together...Jesus is like God is all respects...
