The Supremacy of Christ
15He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
21Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
St. Paul writes to the Colossians about the Supreme Power of Jesus...St. Paul tells us that by Him, all things are created in heaven and on earth... All the things on earth were created by Him and for Him...Jesus, while on earth, was the visible image of the invisible God...He calls Jesus the firstborn of God...The firstborn of the family was a compliment and the Hebrew way of saying that someone was especially honored...Jesus is special to all...
St. Paul tells us Jesus is the head of the body, the church...The church, and the followers of the gospel, is His body...
Although St. Paul doesn't come out and call this the Trinity, he is talking about it...God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit of God... God had the the Holy Spirit completely dwell in the Son...For God was so pleased with the Son, that He had all His fullness dwell in Him...Those that got to see Jesus, have seen the Father...How magnificent to have the Complete Presence of God, in you and with you all the time...Jesus is before all things and in Him, He holds all things together...Jesus lives now not in our time, but in the spiritual time and dimension, eternity...Jesus was the firstborn to be resurrected, and He was seen after He was resurrected...
God knows ( He knows all things) our alienation through sin separates us from Him...As part of His plan for repentance and faith, we can have forgiveness and be closer to Him...We have to believe in Jesus and believe in the One who sent Jesus for us...Jesus brings together sinners and a Holy God...
Jesus did not do anything wrong...He did not sin...He came with God's fullness in Him and taught us and still teaches us about the spirit of God, and its importance...Jesus took on man's flesh and was sentenced to die over a charge of blasphemy...He was arrested for unusual things...A charge that He could not forgive our sins, a charge that before Abraham was I AM, and a charge that He did good, not evil on the Sabbath...God was fully dwelling in our Messiah, how could He not do these things, because we know only God is good...He was guilty of nothing, because He is the truth...
St. Paul teaches us that because of Jesus' physical death, we can now be reconciled to the Father...But we must continue with our faith and repentance...Through Jesus forgiveness is possible...Jesus did nothing wrong to die on the cross, but He died for our sins and what we do wrong...We needed His death on the cross, so we can be closer to our Father...The death of His Son, shows how much He loves the world, and what He will do for man...He truly is full of grace...
