Colorado PRM Alumni Testimonials

Jordan Wyrwa, DO (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '22) is an Assistant Professor and Clinician-Scientist at CU/CHCO. He was the first CU/CHCO PRM fellow to increase the dedicated research time from 2 months total to 6 months. With 25% of his fellowship dedicated to research training and work, he has been publishing and presenting on rehabilitation and clinical informatics topics, with the long-term goal of advancing precision PRM. Now that his research-clinical balance has shifted to 75%-25%, he is able to pursue this passion even more while still taking care of patients through his weekly clinic and time on inpatient consults.

Teddy Yip, MD (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '21) graduated from fellowship and is an Assistant Professor at University of North Carolina Department of PM&R.  During fellowship, he lead the 1st ever national Virtual Fellowship Fair that has continued each year since 2020 and was President of the AAPM&R Pediatric Rehab Trainee Community Group, connecting programs, fellows and future fellows across the nation.  Dr. Yip's academic project explored the Needs Analysis for an Ultrasound Curriculum surveying national program leaders as well as fellows and future fellows on the use of ultrasound in procedural guidance.

Stephanie Tow, MD (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '19) pursued Pediatric Sports Medicine fellowship training ('20), followed by becoming an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern with in the Pediatric Rehabilitation and Pediatric Sports Medicine departments. While in Colorado, she was an ARCH volunteer. She has been and continues to be a leader in the AAPM&R and continues to advocate for participation in the community and avocation.  She is currently a team physician for U.S. Paralympic Swim Team, an endeavor she started during her PRM Fellowship in Colorado.

Marisa Flavin, MD (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '19) graduated from fellowship and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah Health and works at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT.  During fellowship, she was instrumental in creating new learner-centric Didactic sessions, did a research project in Complementary Alternative Medication use in the Rehab clinic and presented research findings at CP National Conferences and at AAP.  Out of fellowship, she performed Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) neuromonitoring after training in the CHCO OR with Dr. Joyce Oleszek.

Lindsay Elliott, DO (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '17) graduated from fellowship for a job at the Children's Hospital of New Orleans / LSU Health as an Assistant Professor.  She has a well-rounded academic clinical practice and shared with Dr. Kanallakan that she felt prepared for all that her job required of her following fellowship graduation.  During fellowship, her research project was on EEG markers in concussion that led to a poster presentation at a national conference.

Aaron Powell, MD (CU/CHCO PRM Fellow '17) graduated from PRM fellowship and stayed on faculty at CHCO as an Assistant Professor.  He is currently in the Inpatient Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Care and leads the Excellence in Communication course at CHCO.  During fellowship, he presented research findings at the Spina Bifida conference regarding plantar pressures and tethered cord.  As a faculty, he was awarded a Pilot research grant to study this further.
