Training is a core component of maintaining a professional, capable, and consistent police force within the Colorado Springs Police Department. All officers are expected to take training seriously, demonstrate continuous improvement, and meet all standards established by the Training Division and Command Staff. The following policies outline the expectations for attendance, conduct, progression, and remedial training.
All Probationary Officers are required to attend and successfully complete a basic training session before becoming full Officers.
Officers are expected to attend trainings when available, especially those relevant to their division, certifications, or duties.
If an officer cannot attend a required training, they must notify a Training Supervisor or Command Staff in advance.
Repeated failure to attend required trainings may result in disciplinary action.
Officers must remain professional, respectful, and engaged throughout all training sessions.
Disruptive behavior, trolling, or failing to follow instructions may result in removal from the training and potential disciplinary action.
Officers must follow all safety protocols, scenario rules, and instructor directions without argument.
