The Colorado Domestic Duck Rescue 5k Run to Rescue is a untimed fun run or walk to support the rescue and homing of domestic ducks dumped by their owners into environments where they will not survive. The run, to be held Sept. 28, 2025 at 9 a.m., supports education efforts to build awareness concerning proper domestic duck care and rehoming in addition to rescue.
The short 5k (3.1 miles) is geared toward fun and education. The run is $35 and is tax deductible. Participants can walk, run, or waddle and will receive shirts, a toy duck (your finish medal), and knowledge about the plight of these flightless birds. Kids run for free and will receive a rubber duck. Water will be available at the 1.5 mile mark and finish line.
Every year, across the country, domestic ducks are dumped by owners who are not aware or don't care that they cannot survive in the wild. It's our hope that through this run and volunteer efforts we can help stop the senseless suffering of our web-footed friends.
