The Colorado Domestic Duck Rescue started as a Facebook page in 2014 for volunteers willing to rescue domestic ducks from the ponds and lakes where they cannot survive without human assistance. Moderators and volunteers from that group came together in May of 2025 and formed a 501c3 to fund and coordinate efforts to help domestic ducks who will die without the support.
Amanda Buxton is the executive director of The Colorado Domestic Duck Rescue. Buxton has rescued several number of ducks over the last 2.5 years and currently cares for seven domestic ducks at her home in Denver. Buxton has made it her mission to educate the public on responsible duck ownership. You can learn more about Buxton in a Westword feature story the covers her work.
