How to Commission

Welcome to our "How to Commission" Page! Here we go about how our commissioning process works and what to expect when you commission us.

1. Researching and Estimating: 

You have done your research and have decided that you want Color Explosion Studios to create your costume. You have read over our Terms of Service, checked out our starting prices, and check all of the options we have available. All of this can help determine what you would like to order with your suit and what features you want. 

2. What you need to to commission us: 

First you will need to get a quote from us. Our quotes are completely free and once you've sent one, we will typically respond withing 3-5 days.  In the quote we do require a ref sheet, the ref sheet must have at least a front and a side view, Must be a SFW ref sheet, and no shading or gradients. This gives us a better understanding of the markings and colors. One you have your quote from us, these are usable for 6 months. We open every few months, so look for any announcements here on our website or any of our other social media platforms. When we open, Please fill out our application form, which will be posted at the bottom of this page, as well as our quote form. 

3. Yes or No:

We tend to close commissions a week after they open. We then send out emails or messages saying if you have been accepted or not. We do not do a first come first serve style opening. We chose from many different factors; the character, difficulty, furs we have on stock, and what type of fursuit. But, if you are not chosen, please don't be discouraged! Just try again next opening. 

4. Payment:

Once you have received the message stating that you have been accepted, we will send out our PayPal or e-transfer for payment. We require 35% of the quoted price within 24 hours of acceptance. If not paid, we will move onto the next person in line. For orders under $1000 USD, we require the rest of the payment to be fully paid within 2 months. If $1000+ USD, we require the remaining price within 6 months. Since we are located in Canada, when you pay there will be a conversion to CAD, All prices are in USD. 

5. Furs and Details: 

Once payment has been received on our end, we will then start to converse about furs, materials, and any details that need to be discussed. We only order furs from Howl Fabrics and Big Z Fabrics. So when looking and discussing please refer to those companies. Fur tends to take 2-4 weeks to arrive. 

6. Waiting:

We usually have a few customers in our queue before yours, please expect a 1-3 month waiting time before any work has been started on your commission,  During this time, make sure to keep contact and we will update you once we are preparing to start on your order. Please make sure to check our Trello for our commission queue. During this time, i will also ask for any necessary information or measurements. This may mean, sending your Duct Tape Dummy, head measurements, and any extra details you would like to change. 

7. Creation:

Yay! Its now time for your suit to be started! Please look forwards to seeing any work in progress pictures through direct messages and through out WIP telegram. Something doesn't look right? please let us know, We want your costume to be perfect to your taste. 

8. Shipping:

Once your suit is completed, we will then ask for your full legal name, as well as your full shipping address. We then pack up your suit and calculate shipping online, We only use Canada Post and UPS for shipping services. Once you receive your quoted shipping price, we do expect that to be paid within a week of your suit being completed. Once sent, we will ship out your order. All orders come with a tracking number. Once your package has been shipped and you have received your tracking number, please be aware that we are no longer responsible for your order. All shipping fees are from the border and must be paid by the recipient only!
