Amazingly, America's fifth president, James Monroe, was born in Colonial Beach. Check out his Birthplace Park and Museum just outside of town for a super convenient dose of history and family fun!
Historic Stratford Hall, home of the Lee family, is also nearby. History extravaganza as well as year-round activities and events.
Colonial Beach Museum is small and only open 1-3 pm each weekend day but has some nice little exhibits providing some interesting town history.
