Colonial Beach is one of only a few towns in Virginia that allow golf carts on roads. There are two places in town to rent golf carts, Custom Cartz and T&T Carts. We highly recommend looking into renting one as it's part of the full Colonial Beach experience.
There are two beach areas in Colonial Beach. Both are great but for different reasons.
North Beach- located by the pier and the boardwalk. It gets very crowded with day visitors but has a lot of fun hustle and bustle and you can listen to music from the nearby tikibar. Parking can be a challenge.
South Beach- located at the end of the point. This is usually much quieter and more of a local spot. Parking is usually easier than at North Beach.
Westmoreland State Park is a gem with amenities such as hiking and biking trails, birding, fishing, a playground, picnic areas and even a beach as well as various family- friendly activities and events.
Check out Colonial Beach's library for a great all-weather selection of books, kids play area, access to computers with tons of educational games for young kids and even a full video game section in back for older ones. Free wifi if you just need a quiet place to plug in for work or just escape for a minute. And while our house (especially the porch!) is great for remote work, if you just can’t escape work, there’s even CoBE Workspace downtown.
There's a convenient new massage spa in town. Make your reservations early as they may be booked, particularly during the summer.
"Cruisin' Tikis" is Colonial Beach's very own "tikiboat"! If you're unfamiliar, it's exactly what it sounds like. Especially during the summer months, it's popular so you might want reservations, but also doesn't hurt to checking if they can host some last minute fun.
A half-hour drive west of town, Snead's Farm has not only fresh seasonal produce, but lots of exciting family-friendly attractions and activities.
There are three playgrounds in town, one near Dockside on the southern tip of "the Point" (peninsula), another downtown near Raven's Point, and another Torrey Smith Recreation Park which has basketball and tennis courts. Don't forget to bring your pickleball set!
The town's other playgrounds are found at Washington Avenue Park and Castlewood Park.
River Gym has tons of space and great equipment available for a fee but only during staffed hours (for non-monthly members).
