Mayo 28/2020 - 11:00 AM Invitación Zoom

Abstract:

In these difficult days, we are listening in media terms as exponential growth, reproduction rate, and so. These are terms linked with the study of population growth, spread of diseases and related areas. In this talk we will focus on the mathematical models used in epidemiology, mainly in Kermack and McKendrick' SIR model and some of its variants, from a mathematical point of view. Among the different techniques commonly used in the study of epidemics, we will treat deterministic models, based on dynamical systems theory. We will present the main mathematical tools that we will need. The talk will be as self-contained as possible, no prerequisites needed.
