Our research focuses on fundamental problems in the area of fluid mechanics and colloids science. In the area of colloids and polymers, we are interested in understanding the film formation and fracture mechanism in colloidal and polymer dispersions with application to paints and coatings, pharmaceutical sciences, ceramics, drying and cracking of soil, and photonic meta-materials. In the area of fluid mechanics, we are interested in gaining a fundamental understanding of the sprays and atomisersaimed at relating the process conditions to the final drop size distribution. Our interest in colloids and fluid mechanics has led to investigate the mechanism of sensing and motion in bacteria.
We have also recently taken up projects targeting cutting-edge technologies in the field of biomedical engineering and designing of diagnostic devices, especially for the resource constrained setting.
