This was the first tutorial that we went through during this project. It was learning about several qualities of advanced design like sketches within assemblies and configuration mangement.Â
These are all the drawings from the advanced drawing tutorial where we learned how to dimension out the shapes and create different views for components, as well as develop out a bill of materials for everything needed for a project.
This is a bunch of images and a gif from the motion study Solidworks study. It involved creating the motion with the parts and learning how to perform a motion study on an assembly like this.
This is the design that I went with for the project. I decided I wanted to make a castle like design as I knew it would challenge me a bit and would make my final product look even cooler when it functions. I also opted to do a double arm design to ensure that my switch is able to be pressed fully and consistently. Below are a bunch of CAD pictures and a drawing of the assembly that I made to go along with the project. Below I included all of the important components to the design and showed how they interact with each other. Also I attached a GIF of the working prototype in Solidworks so you can see how the components interact with each other.
These are all components that myself and a partner had to make. I was in charge of the limit switch and the motor assembly.
These are pictures of my sliced work and then what that sliced work looked like on the printer. I chose to use the Prusa XL printer so use its multimaterial capabilities to be able to do a multicolor final print.
Here is a bunch of pictures of my assembly process and what that looked like. You can see the component fitting, as well as the final wiring job with all of the clean wire routing. You can also see me performing all of the soldering work for the project. I also did the heatsets for all of the screws that were used in areas like my limit switch and my bottom plate.
This is a GIF of my final prototype, you can see that it works really well and is able to efficently hit the switch and turn it on and off performing the intended function of the useless box. Its also extremely quick at turning it on and off.
