What is FIRST Robotics?
FIRST Robotics Competition works to introduce high school students to a higher level of STEM, introducing concepts of manufacturing as well as skills related to CAD and coding. Students work on teams of up to 50 people to design large 150-pound robots designed around a task. FIRST Robotics competition creates a yearly challenge for students around the globe to participate in. This level of robotics introduces extreme amounts of communication between students, not only on a single team but many other teams. The teams under this organization provide students with many opportunities to gain access to industry-standard software such as Solidworks and VSCode. They gain a high level of understanding of this software, giving students a leg up when it comes to college-level course structures. All of this is piled into a fun and competitive space for students to learn about all of the possible aspects of STEM and all the related areas that fit into that field.
FRC Team 836 The Robobees
I have been a participant in The Robobees since the summer of 2022, and in that time, I have participated in many different events, outreach opportunities, and STEM-based learning opportunities. Through this, I have become proficient in Robotics design, manufacturing, and wiring. Since joining the team in 2022, I have been on our mechanical and electrical teams, and as of the summer of 2023, I became the electrical lead, wiring the entirety of our 2024 and 2025 robot. In the summer of 2024, I also took on the role of mechanical student lead, which involved coordinating efforts for prototyping, CADD, and manufacturing/construction of the bot. Ultimately, the Robobees have been an extremely impactful zone in my life. With over a thousand hours spent at our facility since joining in 2022, I have gained skills from Solidworks development to mapping of electrical systems. Attached below are pictures of my participation/accomplishments/creations since joining the team.
