Hi! I'm Colin.
Driven by CURIOSITY, I love learning how the world around me works. Equipped with an artistic background and practical product development experience, I am on a continuous journey to make life a little more fun :^)
My journey map:
Born in the beautiful city of San Francisco, I moved to South Korea at the age of two. I spent the next ten years there embracing everything that my culture had to offer before moving back to the US prior to the start of middle school. I stayed in the small city of Lafayette, CA, until I started my college education at UC Santa Barbara. Following the completion of my B.S. degree, I went to UC Berkeley for a Master of Engineering program in mechanical engineering with a focus in product design. Now, I'm back in my home town getting my steps in up the hills and living the dream.
Things that inspire me:
My book recommendations:
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
More than eight billion people in this world, yet it feels so small. Albom's book showed me how connected we are to each other and how the decisions we make, whether we know it or not, influences the lives those around us.
The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
When I am brushing my teeth with one hand, I am often scrolling on my phone with the other. Habits like these are explained by our fundamental need to be efficient, and in this book, Duhigg guides us on ways to identify and replace a bad habit with one that brings value to our lives.
Stay True by Hua Hsu
Hsu's narrative is raw and personal as he describes his friendship with Ken, and it is written in a way that reminds me of my own relationship with my closest friends. This, in turn, makes his story hit so much harder, from the hours we wasted talking about something pointless to reminiscing about these times as we get older.
Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut
My high school English teacher personally recommended me this book and it has changed my view of storytelling ever since. Breaking the fourth wall and adding drawings are just a few ways Vonnegut became one of my favorite authors, and his work proved that nothing is off the table when it comes to establishing a voice.
