Medical Careers Pathway x Scouts (February 2nd, 2026)
On this faithful Monday, we hosted a Scouts training session from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Med II & Med III students led several different demonstrations to teach the all-girls Scouts team (ages 11-17). Simulations and explanations of essential first aid skills like bandaging splits, preforming CPR, signs of strokes, and how to pack wounds were done to invite the Scouts to the hands-on learning experience common here at our pathway!
Mentor Night (January 28th, 2026)
From 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, attendees were able to learn from a variety of medical or educational professionals from an audiology professor to a family medicine doctor to several nurses. Nine mentors attended, allowing students to choose from a variety of professions or fields to learn from. Everyone enjoyed learning from adults who poured their lives' contents into the classrooms of CO. Interactive presentations, microscope labs, and extensive Q&A sessions were experienced by attendees.
Field Trip: Eskaton Village Carmichael (January 15th, 2026)
Students met with the elderly at the senior living community of Eskaton Village Carmichael and learned about careers surrounding geriatric care. They were able to view several of the different facilities integrated into the Eskaton plot, including healthcare & rehabilitation sites, memory care environments, and fitness, wellness, & therapy areas.
MedPros Meeting: Glaucoma and Goal-setting (January 12th, 2026)
The first meeting of year from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM to start year off on the right foot! Groups of six to eight students were made to play a team bonding activity of working together to detangle the group into a full circle. Attendees then made goals for the new year and learned about glaucoma. Learning about eye health, invigorated students to set out their own "vision" for 2026! The meeting ended off with a vision testing session using Snellen charts.
MedPros Meeting: Holiday Card Making (December 8th, 2025)
A holiday-themed meeting from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM to celebrate the end of the 2025 year and the holiday season! Some team bonding activities, like making story based on one word from each person in a circle, were played. Then, students created holidays cards that were sent to the The Park and The Gardens for seniors to enjoy! Everyone was also given the chance to eat some cookies! The last meeting of 2025 was full of holiday joy and spirit.
CTE Parent Info Night (November 20th, 2025)
Showcase from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM to prospective pathway members (freshmen students and their parents). Many families came to explore our facilities, the line to HS1 going as far as to the opposite side of campus!! Once again, much like Back to School Night and Open House, this type of showcase event has been perfected by the Medical Careers pathway. Interactive booths were once again done, families were able to visit the rHouse, and many questions were answered about Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways at CO!
Rotational Mentor Night (November 18th, 2025)
First "Mentor Night" of the year! First Rotational Mentor Night ever! From approximately 5:40 PM to 8:00 PM. With over 100 students attending and 12 mentors attending! Topics such as respiratory therapy, nursing, and neonatal care were discussed by mentors. Four rotations were done so pathway members could explore multiple professions in one night. We appreciate the many student volunteers, mentors, officers, and teachers who helped us succeed in our very first Rotational Mentor Night ever!
MedPros Meeting: CNU Burns & Wounds Lab (October 27th, 2025)
Meeting after school from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM. Medical students from California Northstate University (CNU), came to educate our pathway members on burns and wounds. After an informational presentation on these ailments and how to treat them, students were able participate in an amazing hand-ons activity! They were tasked with creating fake wounds using items such as cocoa powder, fake blood, and oatmeal.
MedPros Meeting: [Randy Nguyen] Guest Speaker (October 20th, 2025)
After school meeting from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM. As a Cosumnes Oaks High School alum, UCLA graduate, and current USC medical student, Randy Nguyen was able to share much about his college experience to the attendees. Students remained intrigued by his accomplishments and asked many questions on his college life, advice for college and beyond, and much more.
Open House (October 16th, 2025)
Term 2 class showcase from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Once again, much like the Back to School Night done for Term 1, this Open House event introduced many parents and students to the many classes and pathways offered at Cosumnes Oaks High School. Pathway student volunteers were situated at booths such as at live CPR demonstrations, a microscope lab, and eye testing.
MedPros Meeting: Welcome (September 15th, 2025)
Held from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM, officers held a fun and relaxed meeting to ease pathway members into the new school year. New guidelines on pathway points were explained and future events were advertised. Several icebreakers and team bonding activities were done to further connect pathway students with each other. As the first MedPros meeting of the year, this meeting welcomed new pathway members to the Medical Careers pathway and introduced them to the idea of after school meetings dedicated to the pathway exploring medical careers.
Back to School Night (August 21st, 2025)
Term 1 class showcase from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. As a pathway, we displayed our work with interactive booths and introducing parents and students to our simulators in the rHouse. Our teacher advisors, officers, and volunteers all helped procure the event so that everyone was welcomed and well-informed on the endeavors of the Medical Careers pathway at Cosumnes Oaks High School.
Health Fair (April 9th, 2025)
An event run by the Medical Careers pathway to display the pathway's work (through student-run booths) and connect with medical professionals and professors. This was the second year this annual showcase was held and was open to the entire school. Some student-run booths held this year included blood glucose testing, gel electrophoresis demonstrations, and pig dissections. Institutions that participated in this event included California Northstate University (CNU), California State University - Sacramento (Sac. State), and Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) Fire Department.
