About Us!
The Medical Careers pathway at Cosumnes Oaks High School (COHS) was established in 2017. It has now grown to be the largest Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway at COHS with over 400 students. Students choose to enter a pathway freshmen year, and if they choose the Medical Careers pathway, they will take Medical Careers I as a sophomore, Medical Careers II as a junior, and Medical Careers III as a senior. After completing these three courses and earning 30 CTE points (which can be Career Exploration or Leadership related), Medical Careers graduates will receive recognition at CTE Awards Night prior to graduating high school.
We are dedicated to educating and aiding students in their future endeavors into the field of medicine. Among our team is two pathway coordinators and teachers: Mrs. Wulsin and Ms. Romero. For the 2025-2026 school year, we also have a 12 student officers dedicated to help run the pathway smoothly alongside our pathway coordinators.
Coursework:
Medical Careers I: learn the basics of the medical field (careers, procedures, PPE, etc.) and go over several human body systems (cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, muscular, and more!)
Medical Careers II: understand the human body systems and their corresponding diseases as well as master medical terminology!
Medical Careers III: develop real-world patient skills including suturing, taking vitals, and becoming CPR certified!
