1. What is a steampunk festival?
A steampunk festival is a celebration of Victorian-inspired science fiction, fantasy, history, art, fashion, music, and invention. Expect costumes, live entertainment, artisan vendors, workshops, tea, gadgets, and imaginative experiences for all ages.
2. Do I have to dress in steampunk clothing?
No. Costumes are encouraged but never required. Come as you are, or embrace the spirit with goggles, hats, waistcoats, corsets, or your own creative interpretation.
3. Is the festival family-friendly?
Yes! Many activities are suitable for all ages, including demonstrations, crafts, performances, games, and interactive exhibits. Some evening programming may be geared toward adults.
4. How much does admission cost?
Most of the event is free with some ticketed items which support the festival such as, Robot Racing, Fergus in Motion Sculpture, Elemental Sprocket Concert, Clockwork Conundrum.
5. Can I buy tickets for ticketed events when I arrive?
If tickets remain available, yes. Purchasing in advance is recommended to guarantee your opportunity to participate. Some activities have limited availability

6. What are the festival hours?

7. Where can I park?
Parking information, accessible parking, and shuttle details are available on our website, just click on the google map on our opening page.
8. Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
We strive to make the festival accessible. Accessible parking, pathways, and facilities are available where possible. Please contact us with any specific accessibility needs.
9. Are pets allowed?
Leashed only but yes. Please be aware that there will be many guests dressed in costumes that may stress animals.
10. What happens if it rains?
The festival takes place rain or shine unless severe weather creates unsafe conditions at which time the organizers will call for an early closure. If the weather is bad and the show is still open, we ask guests to help vendors by holding tent corners whenever the wind picks up.
Costumes & Participation
11. What is considered steampunk attire?
Steampunk often combines Victorian or Edwardian fashion with imaginative technology, gears, brass accents, goggles, airships, inventors, explorers, and fantasy elements. Creativity is encouraged.
12. Can I wear cosplay that isn't steampunk?
Absolutely. While steampunk is the theme, respectful costumes from related genres are welcome.
13. Are prop weapons allowed?
Yes, provided they are safe for the wearer and other guests . All prop weapons may be inspected at any time by organizers. Real weapons are prohibited.
14. Can I participate in the costume contest?
Yes! Registration details, categories, and judging times will be posted at the Info booth located in the middle of the festival.

16. Is there a schedule of events?
Yes. A full schedule will be available online and at the festival information booth.

17. Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. A variety of food vendors and downtown restaurants will offer meals, snacks, desserts, and beverages.
18. Can I bring my own food?
Small snacks and sealed water bottles are permitted, however, alcohol is not.
19. Do vendors accept credit cards?
Many do, but some may accept cash only. Bringing both is recommended.
Photography
20. Can I take photos?
Yes! Sharing your personal photography online is encouraged.
21. Can I photograph people in costume?
Please ask for permission before taking close-up portraits. Most costumed guests are happy to pose when asked politely, but should be respected if they choose not to be photographed.
22. Will professional photographers be at the festival?
Yes. By attending, you may appear in photographs or videos used for promotional purposes.
Practical Information
23. Are there ATMs on site?
ATM’s are available at each of our major banking institutions, located within the festival area. Bringing cash is recommended.
24. Are there restrooms available?
Yes, located at the weighscale building, Fergus Grand Theatre, Fergus Public Library, and at Youth Unlimited which will also have snacks, water and a rest area.
25. Is smoking or vaping allowed?
Smoking and vaping are only permitted as it is a public space however, we ask that smoking and vaping be done away from other guests and vendors whenever reasonable.
26. Is there a lost and found?
Yes. Lost items can be reported or claimed at the information booth.
27. Can I leave and re-enter the festival?
Yes, it is free to come and go.
Safety
28. What items are prohibited?
Prohibited items may include:
Real weapons
Illegal substances
Fireworks
Open flames
Hazardous materials
Anything that poses a safety risk
29. Who should I contact if I need help?
Visit the information booth or speak with any volunteer, security staff member, or event organizer.
30. How can I stay updated during the festival?
Follow our social media channels, check the information board, or visit the information booth for announcements and schedule updates.
31. Can I volunteer at the festival?
We are always looking for more help! Every little bit helps take some of the burden off others
32. Is there merchandise exclusive to the festival?
Elemental Sprocket Concert t-shirts and other items will only be available while supplies last
33. Can I bring a camera tripod or drone?
Cameras on tripods are acceptable but should be located where they do not interfere with events or the flow of guests. Drones are not allowed without permission and proof of insurance
34. Is there a quiet space for guests who need a break?
Yes, the Fergus Grand Theatre, the Library and Youth Unlimited all have cooling and quite areas.
35. Where can I find the event map?
We use google maps which can be seen on any device or you can visit the Fergus in Motion Sculpture where there is a large physical map to view.
