Prof. Arup Kumar Hazarika is a professor of the department of Zoology Cotton University. He has a teaching expoerience of more than 30 years and is currently also serving as the Director of the Centre for Environment, Education and Economic Development, an organisation under planning Commission (now Niti Ayog) GoI.

Prof. Hazarika has been supervising more than a dozen of scholars of whom 6 have been awarded the PhD degree. He hads also authored 7 books, among which "The Silver Linings to the Looming Cloud" has garnered critically acclaim from many American Universities including University of Harvard and University of Columbia.

Prof. Hazarika has also delivered several invited talks, both in India and abroad. He has been invited as a speaker many notable universities, such as the University of York, the University of Manchester and the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, the University of Columbia , the University of Harvard,  the University of Maryland and the University of San Jose in the United States, National University of Singapore and Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing, China.

He has more than 70 scientific publications in different national and iinternational Journals with significant impact factors, inclusing his latest publication in the prestigious Science (impact factor 63.71). Prof Hazarika is also the Editor in Chief of the International Multidisciplinary Journal The Clarion.
