WELCOME TO THE 50th SIMPOSIO DE LA ASOCIACIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE ECONOMÍA

Since 1976, the Simposio de Análisis Económico (SAEe) has brought together experts from all fields of economics each December. It has also served as a dynamic platform for PhD students to present their research and, for many years, hosted the PhD Job Market.

For its first 25 editions, the Simposio was held at the Bellaterra campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), organized by the Department of Economics and the Institute of Economic Analysis-CSIC. It later became part of the newly established Spanish Economic Association and has since been hosted by various universities across Spain.

In 2025, we celebrate the 50th edition of the SAEe in Bellaterra (Barcelona), on December 17–19, returning to the campus where it all began.

Fundación Ramón Areces and the Spanish Economic Association will provide fellowships to PhD students who are presenting a paper at SAEe. All PhD Students submitting a paper will be automatically considered for these fellowships, and the selection will be done by the Scientific Committee, based only on scientific quality. The fellowships will cover the conference registration fees for the selected candidates.

Plenary Lectures will be given by Adriana Lleras-Muney (UCLA) and Ekaterina Zhuravskaia (Paris School of Economics). Lola Collado (Universidad de Alicante) will deliver the Presidential Address. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the SAE, there will also be a special plenary session.

The Spanish Economic Association and its Education Committee organize the sixth SAEe PhD School. The PhD School will take place on the day of the start of the SAEe (17 December 2025) and the morning of the second day (18 December 2025) at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The Spanish Economic Association will award some fellowships for students participating in the school. The fellowships will cover the registration fee for the selected candidates.
