As a platform driven by visuals, the representation circuit is marked by curated images that can perpetrate unrealistic standards, impacting users’ self-esteem and body image. Growing up through my teen years I noticed that about Pinterest. You would see a lot of “thinspo”, and it was the norm but now Pinterest is trying to block it. In terms of consumption, the addictive nature of scrolling through endless images can contribute to a passive form of engagement, potentially hindering users’ productivity. Furthermore, Pinterest’s influence on identity formation is a double-edged sword offering inspiration while also fostering conformity to societal ideals. Regulation wise, concerns arise about privacy and the potential exploitation of user data. “How much of your life can we get you to give us?
