Prehistory Club

For all with an interest in the history of life on Earth. In Prehistory club we will explore how species evolved from microscopic cells of the Archean, to the enormous dinosaurs of the Cretaceous, and the rise of humanity from the Stone to the Metal Ages.
Prehistory club will look at Palaeontology, Archaeology, and Geology through the study of specimens, documentaries, and completing projects.

Peer Education Project (PEP)

The Peer Education Project is a secondary school-based educational programme that aims to give young people the skills and knowledge they need to safeguard their mental health and that of their peers. Peer Educators (you!) are trained to deliver the mental health lessons to year 7 pupils during Friday morning tutor times in the Spring term, using the detailed lesson plans and PowerPoint slides. It is an amazing experience to develop teamwork, organisation and speaking skills.
You will be required to commit to attend every other Monday as the training is required content in order to deliver the programme in the Spring term.

Mock Trial Competition

The Bar Mock Trial Competition helps young people understand how the law touches every aspect of their lives, gaining an insight into how the legal justice system works.
You will form a team, and become participants in a mock real life criminal law scenario. There are many different roles available so whether you are a strong speaker, dramatist, artist or writer - the team need you!
The team is between 8 - 17 students, so there may be a selection process if demand is high

Aspire

This is aimed at students who are planning to apply to Oxford or Cambridge for their undergraduate studies.
This runs on alternate weeks to allow for Yr12 and Yr13 to meet separately. Yr12 will not begin Aspire until the end of October. There is an application process - all students write a letter of application in Yr12. LHR holds a meeting with all students interested mid-October to explain what Aspire is and how to apply. In Yr13 Aspire runs until the end of January and focuses on personal statements and mock interviews. Students are also supported by academic mentors in subject specific groups. These groups meet regularly to focus on super curricular and also support with personal statements, admissions tests and interview preparation.
