I've lived in Upstate New York for two decades, doing my medical training and raising my family here. Living in the town of Onondaga and working in Syracuse serving the people of Central New York has been very rewarding.
I'm an addiction psychiatrist and I've been a leader all my life. My family was always active in the community, and I worked early on in a church soup kitchen. I was able to travel all over the world to visit family and see different cultures. I got a top notch public education and am very grateful for that.
Fighting poverty, for greater health care access and working directly with poor and working class families has been the hallmark of my family's work.
I have received several honors for serving the community.
I was named the top physician in CNY in 2018, honored by the county medical society for Physician Service to the community in 2019, and earned the SUNY Upstate Leonard Tow Humanism award in 2020 for clinical excellence and outstanding compassion in the delivery of care.
I spend my week seeing those with mental health issues. My free time is spent with my wife, children, hiking, and meditating. I also spend a lot of time connecting with various poverty, health, and activist groups in the community. I have been a huge Syracuse Orange fan since attending Coach Boeheim's summer basketball camp in 1990, and can often be found watching the Syracuse Mets in a free moment.
