The Implementation of NSTP at Central Mindanao University Based on Republic Act No. 9163.
Central Mindanao University (CMU) implements the National Service Training Program (NSTP) in accordance with Republic Act No. 9163, also known as the "National Service Training Program Act of 2001." This legislation institutionalized NSTP in all colleges and universities in the Philippines and mandates that all undergraduate students enrolled in any baccalaureate degree or at least two-year technical-vocational course must complete one of the three program components: Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), or Literacy Training Service (LTS).
In compliance with this law, CMU integrates NSTP as a required component of its general education curriculum. The university offers students the option to enroll in either ROTC, CWTS, or LTS, depending on their interests and advocacy. Through this program, CMU aims to develop students' sense of civic duty, social responsibility, leadership, and involvement in community development. This aligns with the national goal of fostering a well-rounded and service-oriented citizenry. Thus, CMU's NSTP implementation is not only a compliance with national law, but also a commitment to producing graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to national development and public service.
