Department Webinar/ Special Lecture-1
Gandhi's Concept of Sarvodaya
Speaker: Dr. Arindam Sinha, Rampurhat College
30th May, 2020
Report:
Mahatma Gandhi started attracting scholars' attention since his successful movement in South Africa. His thoughts and behaviour are regarded as Oriental response to the western modernity. Keeping his influence -both in academic world and political world- our department resolved to organize a special lecture on Gandhi's Sarvodaya and it is also a topic in Under-graduate syllabus.
Special lecture started with an inaugural song -Gandhi's favourite bhajan- Vaisnov Janoto) by our 2nd SEM student Anuradha Dhara and Rima Ghosh.
Dr. Sk. Ataur Rahaman provided welcome address. Students of our department and professors of different colleges were present in the webinar.
Dr. Arindom Sinha, a serious scholar in this field, was invited to deliver lecture. Dr. Sinha deftly handled the issue. He corelated Gandhi's idea of Sarvodaya with freedom struggle and contemporary democracy in India. According to him, Gandhi's Sarvodaya is possible way-out of socio-political diseases of India.
Prof. Mojaffar Hossain Mondal, Rampuhat College and Dr. Rintu Kumar Biswas, Hetampur K.C College raised very pertinent questions. Dr. Sinha satisfied them.
Aziz Hasan extended vote of thanks.
Dr. Sinha expressed gratitude to the department for inviting him to deliver lecture.
