The BCM KEY POPULATION PROGRAM offers a Gender Affirming Clinic for Transgender and Gender Diverse People outreach clinic at two sites in East London:

Duncan Village Day Hospital (old Wits RHI Clinic)

 Cecilia Makiwane Hospital Advanced Clinical Care unit (Wellness) in the old CMH building

GENDER-AFFIRMING HORMONE TREATMENT

The OUTREACH CLINIC consists of a doctor available to initiate, monitor and prescribe hormone treatment for new and existing clients. Referrals to relevant health care professionals can be made at local public sector facilities.

Please note that there will be no nurse, social worker or psychologist, but we can arrange referrals if needed. 

Duncan Village Day Hospital Gender Affirming Health Care (GAHC)

This clinic operates 2 afternoons a month and takes place at the old Wits RHI Parkhome at DVDH (see dates above).

Cecilia Makiwane Hospital (CMH) Gender Affirming Health Care (GAHC)

The Advanced Clinical Care Unit at CMH is also providing gender affirming health care (GAHC) for patients in Mdantsane under the Key Population program. 

Dr Muller will be available two Wednesday afternoons a month (dates above) to see patients from Mdantsane who needs GAHC. 

How to access gender affirming hormones at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital

1 Check the dates  - the clinic runs between 12 and 3pm

2 Open a CMH folder at the OLD Cecilia Makiwane Hospital entrance: https://maps.app.goo.gl/41ZEN53ixF3yR4UN7 

3 Report with your folder to the Advanced Clinical Care unit (also called Wellness), next to Ward 5. 

4 You will be seen by Dr Muller and given a prescription as indicated

5 Please note: the prescription will still need to be taken to FRERE hospital to be dispensed.
