Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881)

Pictures at an Exhibition was composed by Modest Mussorgsky who was a Russian composer. Written in 1874, it is a ten piece suite of programme music. Mussorgsky wrote the music in reflection to an exhibition which held in memory of a late friend, Victor Hartmann. The music depicts himself walking (Promenade) around the gallery and representations of the paintings.
