About: This blog narrates my 28-day international pre-service teacher experience, from cultural exchange to how the classroom works and making connections to people made in Thailand.
The SEA-Teacher project aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia. Specifically, the aims of the SEA – Teacher Project are:
to enable the student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy.
to encourage the student teachers to practise their English skills.
to allow the student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view.
to expose future teachers to diverse teaching and learning situations and opportunities, and the value of flexibility.
Udon Thani Rajabhat University (UDRU) is one of Thailand’s fastest-growing universities, home to over 22,000 students, 478 teaching staff, and 310 supporting staff. It serves as a hub where international and local knowledge converge to empower the community and the region.
Originally established as a teacher education institute, UDRU remains dedicated to excellence in teaching and learning while successfully expanding its expertise into various other fields.
Since the launch of the Public Sector Management Quality Award (PMQA) in 2005, UDRU has consistently ranked among Thailand’s top ten higher education institutions. Notably, it secured 1st place in the program's inaugural year (2005), followed by rankings of 6th in 2006, 9th in 2007, and 3rd in 2008.
Hello everyone! I am Clyde Vergel Agsalog from the University of Northern Philippines, and I am honored to be a SEA-Teacher in Udon Thani, Thailand. This journey has been nothing short of extraordinary—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to teach, learn, and grow beyond my comfort zone.
As an aspiring science educator, this program has not only strengthened my teaching skills but has also instilled in me greater confidence, adaptability, and cultural awareness. Every challenge I faced and every lesson I taught has contributed to my growth, both as an educator and as an individual.
I call this journey "From Lessons to Lifelong Memories: My SEA-Teacher Chapter" because it represents more than just an academic experience. It is a story of resilience, discovery, and meaningful connections. Education knows no boundaries, and this chapter of my life has proven that passion and perseverance can open doors to endless possibilities. The memories, friendships, and lessons I have gained will forever hold a special place in my heart.
