My teaching experience goes back to 1977 when as a senior at John Glenn High School, I trained two dozen 3rd graders the basics of folkstyle wrestling at Walkerton Elementary School. As a culminating activity, we held a wrestling match in front of the entire student body . As I staged and officiated the match, I remember how the enthusiastic student body went wild! It was then and right there, I knew I was going to become a teacher. That cadet teaching event solidified my career plans!
I wanted to attend the most prestigious university I could find that would accept me. Indiana University granted my wish and I loved every moment of my time there. The kindness and care of my professors I will always remember. They inspired me to include a curriculum of care into my own practice. Enid Zimmerman, Gil Clark, Will Counts, Robert M. Barnes, Donald R. Whitehead, Donald J. Cunningham , Rudy Pozzatti and others were huge influences on me. When a student is provided unconditional regard and encouragement, relational wealth can catalyze the individual to go beyond primary goals. That was the situation for me at Indiana University. I will always remember.
Here are some teaching situations and educational projects I have been apart of. Enjoy the pics!
