Clearwater North is the industrial heart of the Clearwater Area. Started in 2005 specifically as an inland port under BNSF ownership the area has evolved even further under the CLSP. Now anchored by the Clearwater North Transload Area and Kootenai Fuels the area sees consistent business and steady growth in both investor return and carloads shipped. There is a striking balance between the physical size of the port and it's activity and Clearwater North achieved that balance. Now served by it's own switcher and job, SCN-001 The Clearwater North Switcher, it remains an active an vital part of the Clearwater Industrial infrastructure.
The main port customer is the Clearwater North Transload, managed by Blue Start Logistics. This allows for bulk comodities of all kind as well as oversize freight to be handled in the region. An off spot allows for a good traffic flow and the CLSP ensures customers can depend on timely serive. Kootenai Fuels is the main petroleum dealer in the Swan Valley Area and it to sees frequent service.
Glacier Rail Park
Glacier Rail Park is a rail-served industrial district on the northeast side of Kalispell, Montana, developed to preserve and modernize freight rail service in the Flathead Valley. Opened in 2018 through a partnership between local agencies and BNSF Railway, the park consolidated rail-served industries into a purpose-built site while allowing former downtown trackage to be repurposed for community use.
Today, Glacier Rail Park hosts a mix of agricultural supply, building materials, manufacturing, and transload operations. BNSF provides line-haul service and interchange, while local and shortline partners handle on-site switching and distribution. The park continues to serve as a key logistics hub for northwest Montana, balancing modern freight needs with the region’s long railroad heritage.
