Clearwater was a small agricultural community before the railroad arrived in 1910. Set at the junction of two state highways and in rich timber country Clearwater prospered. Today the population sits at around 1100 hardy folks and while no longer enjoying the same importance agriculture is still important to the lives and culture of the Swan Valley.
Clearwater is home to the largest concentration of rail served industries in the Swan Valley. The Clearwater Industrial District housing numerous rail served businesses ensure the rumble of freight cars is an everyday occurrence to the citizens of the Gateway City. Tammany Ave is named for Marcus Daley's favorite race horse, a nod to the influence of the Anaconda Copper Company in these parts.
