No. Anyone can start aerial dance. While being “fit” may help some students progress more quickly, it is not required. Strength and flexibility are developed over time.
Yes! Our Intro to Aerial Dance class is designed specifically for complete beginners. No prior aerial or dance experience is necessary.
Aerial dance is challenging, requiring both full-body strength and flexibility. Our classes use safe, progressive programming and conditioning to help you build skills step-by-step.
Some discomfort is normal when starting aerial. Bruising, muscle soreness, and muscle cramping can occur, and skin irritation or fabric “burns” may happen if proper attire isn’t worn. The good news? It gets easier as your body adapts.
Progress can feel slow, and that’s completely normal. Strength, flexibility, and skills take time to develop, so be patient, stay consistent, and give yourself grace along the way.
Please wear clothing that covers your skin to protect it:
Long-sleeve tops or leotards and comfortable athletic pants or leggings. Bare skin on the apparatus is not recommended.
Please NO jewelry, zippers, metal, velcro, or anything that might snag, tear, or damage the apparatus. Please NO lotion, it can make the apparatus slippery and dangerous.
Please keep hair tidy and out of the face, preferably up if hair is long.
Please keep finger and toenails short and trimmed.
