Every meeting of UNA Harrogate has the objective of prompting action that will take the world, inch by inch, closer to the future we all want to see. At our January meeting, one of our supporters, Tamás Ihász-Kovács, spoke of how he'd like to draw the attention of the people of Harrogate and district to the United Nations International Day of Peace. This is an annual event, which in 2025 falls on Sunday 21 September. He received encouragement, questions and ideas from other UNA supporters at the meeting and the outcome is that he has now committed to leading, not just one day, but a whole week to this timely and important topic.
Tamás and other UNA supporters were keen to make space in the calendar for any institution to get involved. We encourage any group to mark this special week in any way they wish. It will be great to see the Council, businesses, schools, colleges and charities all holding their own special events at any point during (or around) the period 15-21 September.
If you'd like to contact Tamás to discuss your event, email him: ihaszkota@gmail.com
