Son of Edward and Rhoda Jane Stamm Altic; born November 10, 1896, Frankfort, Ind. Laborer. Enlisted April 16, 1917, Lafayette, Ind. Trained at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., El Paso, Tex., Ft. Riley, Kans., Camp Mills, N. Y. Overseas July 14, 1918; assigned to Battery B, 78th Field Artillery.

Died of influenza December 18, 1918, Vichy les Baines, France.

Buried, Vichy, France.

Albert T. Anderson (October 30, 1888 - April 25, 1918)

Son of John and Jennie Anderson; born October 30, 1888, Clinton County, Ind. Moved to Pulaski County in 1915. Entered service March 30, 1918, Winamac, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 15th Company, 4th Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Stricken with pneumonia, he died April 25, 1918, Camp Taylor.

Buried at Francesville, Ind.

Russell Calvin Bayne (July 23, 1896 - 1918)

Son of Albert J. and Estella C. Bayne; born July 23, 1896, Mulberry, Clinton County, Ind. Enlisted in U.S. Marines May 29, 1915, Norfolk, Va. Assigned to 19th Company. Overseas June 9, 1917. Transferred to Company 15, Machine Gun Battalion, 4th Brigade, 2nd Division. Rank: 1st Lieutenant.

Died from wounds October 26, 1918, received in Mont Blanc Sector on Champagne Front. Buried in National Cemetery No. 395, Nevers, France.

Elmer Ernest Bucher (November 8, 1884 - October 28, 1918)

Son of Samuel and Sarah Bucher; born November 8, 1884, Clinton County, Ind. Removed to Carroll County in 1901. Salesman. Entered First Officer's Training Camp, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., in May, 1917. Commissioned First Lieutenant. Transferred to Camp Taylor, Ky.; then to Camp Sherman, Ohio. Overseas in September, 1917; assigned to Company C, 369th Infantry, 84th Division.

Killed in action October 28, 1918, Alsace. Awarded Croix de Guerre, (posthumously) for bravery in action.

Buried in Moosch, France.

Homer William Cameron (May 28, 1896 - March 31, 1918)

Son of Amos and Sarah A. Cameron; born May 28, 1896, Owen Township, Clinton County, Ind. Automobile machinist. Entered service October 6, 1917, Lafayette, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. for training; assigned to Company C, 309th Engineers.

Died of pneumonia March 31, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky.

Milo Ross Chaney (July 30, 1894 - July 23, 1918)

Son of Oliver C. and Emma E. Chaney; born July 30, 1894, Dover Hill, Martin County, Ind. Moved to Clinton County in October, 1913. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 7, 1917, Lafayette, Ind. Trained at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and El Paso, Tex.; assigned to Company B, 16th Infantry, 1st Division. Arrived in France June 26, 1917.

Wounded July 18, 1918; died July 23, 1918, Base Hospital No. 1.

Charles Joseph Clendenning (August 7, 1898 - July 15, 1918)

Son of Charles J. and Ada A. Clendenning; born August 7, 1898, near Mulberry, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted June 1, 1917, Lafayette, Ind. Trained at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Washington Barracks, D. C.; assigned to Company A, 6th Engineers, 3rd Division. Overseas December 2, 1917. Participated in battles of Champagne, and Aisne.

Killed in action July 15, 1918, second battle of the Marne.

Buried in American Cemetery, St. Eugene, Aisne, France.

Paul Barnett Coble (May 15, 1883 - May 11, 1919)

Son of Albert H. and Emma Barnett Coble; born May 15, 1883, Frankfort, Ind. Physician. Assistant Professor of Rhinology, Otology, Laryngology, Indiana University School of Medicine. Thirty-second degree Mason; member of Phi Beta Pi fraternity. Enlisted in Medical Corps May 11, 1917, Indianapolis. Commissioned 1st Lieutenant June 5, 1917. Promoted to Major at time of death.

Died "from accidental or other causes", May 11, 1919, St. Nazaire, France.

Walter Taylor Cohee (March 11, 1893 - March 22, 1918)

Son of William H. and Jennie Cohee; born March 11, 1893, Frankfort, Ind. Traveling salesman. Entered service October 8, 1917, Indianapolis. Trained at Ft. Thomas, Ky., Kelly Field, Tex., and Hicks Station, Tex. Assigned to 148th Aviation Section, Signal Corps. Overseas February 22, 1918.

Killed in air raid March 22, 1918, Chaulnes, France.

John Harvey Coin (October 30, 1895 - September 27, 1918)

Son of John and Ella Coin; born October 30, 1895, Carroll County, Ind. Moved to Clinton County in 1906. Cement worker. Entered service June 25, 1918, Frankfort, Ind. Trained at Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Machine Gun Company, 333rd Infantry, 84th Division. Overseas September 2, 1918.

Died of appendicitis September 27, 1918, Base Hospital, Bordeaux, France.

Buried in cemetery near Montreuil, France.

Byron Clark Cox (December 5, 1899 - July 21, 1918)

Son of Denton and Berthz E. Cox; born December 5, 1899, Rossville, Clinton County, Ind. Moved to Montgomery County in 1908. Graduate of State Normal. Teacher. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 17, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Jefferson Barracks; transferred to Ft. Douglas, Ariz.; assigned to Company G, 18th Infantry, 1st Division. Went overseas July 14, 1917. Rank: Corporal

Killed in action, battle of Soissons, July 21, 1918, near Buzancy.

Died of pneumonia July 19, 1918, Winchester, England. Body returned and buried at Tipton, Ind

Clayton Arthur Endicott (July 30, 1881 - October 8, 1918)

Son of John and Alice Endicott; born July 30, 1881, Frankfort, Ind. Physician. Enlisted in Medical Corps, August, 1918, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind. Received his commission as 1st Lieutenant September 23, 1918.

Died of influenza-pneumonia October 8, 1918, the day he was ordered to report to Ft. Riley, Kan.

Buried at Frankfort, Ind.

Walter Emery Eubank (June 25, 1895 - October 9, 1918)

Killed in action July 15, 1918 in the second battle of the Marne.

Son of Frank S. and Emma F. Graham; born June 13, 1886, Michigan Township, Clinton County, Ind. Mechanical engineer. Living in Swanton, Ohio, at the time of his enlistment. Entered service October, 1917, Washington, D. C. Trained at Ft. Myer, Va.; assigned to Ordnance Department, Washington, D. C.; then to 49th Engineers. Sailed for France July 9, 1918. Rank: 1st Lieutenant

Died of spinal meningitis October 21, 1918, Nevers, France.

Buried in American Cemetery west of Camp Adrian on road to Fourchambault, France.

Jefferson Franklin Gray (September 23, 1891 - August 27, 1919)

Son of Samuel J. and Frona Ann Gray; born September 23, 1891, Warren Township, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer / lecturer. Graduate of King's School of Oratory, Pittsburg, Pa. Enlisted in Quartermaster Corps December 6, 1917, New York City. Sent to Yale Laboratory School, Conn. Assigned to Medical Corps. Rank: Sergeant

Trained at Camps Taylor, Ky., and Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Battery C, 325th Field Artillery. Overseas June 12, 1918; assigned to Company K, 166th Infantry. Forty-second (Rainbow) Division.

Killed in action October 16, 1918, near Exemont, France.

Alton Monroe Kaser (December 23, 1893 - June 5, 1919)

Son of Edward and Mary J. Kaser; born December 23, 1893, near Frankfort, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in Indiana National Guard, Frankfort, Ind., May 26, 1917; assigned to Field Hospital No. 2, Medical Department. Overseas October 6, 1918. Served with several hospitals in France. Rank: Wagoner. Returned to United States May 1, 1919.

Died of cerebro meningitis June 5, 1919, at U.S.A. General Hospital No. 21, Denver, Colo. Buried in St. Luke's Cemetery, near Frankfort, Ind.

Frank Edward Keene (October 20, 1892 - February 16, 1920)

Son of Robert C. and Ola A. Keene; born October 20, 1892, St. Joseph, Mo. Moved to Frankfort, Ind., in 1904. District circulation manager, Indianapolis News. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army December 10, 1917, Indianapolis. Trained at Ft. Thomas, Ky., Kelly Field, Tex., and Camp McArthur, Tex. Served in the Personnel Office; assisted in the organization of the 112th Aero Service Squadron. Rank: Sergeant Major

Melvin Bland Kelleher (April 30, 1896 - June 1, 1919)

Son of Jerry J. and Etta M. Kelleher; born April 30, 1896, in Jackson Township, Clinton County, Ind. Student, Indiana University. Entered First Officers Training Camp, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind. Transferred to Aviation Section of the Officers Reserve Corps. Sent to Dayton, Ohio. Rank: 1st Lieutenant. On guard duty over New York City; convoy for American transports.

Killed in airplane accident June 1, 1919, New Haven, Conn.

Willis Otto Kimball (June 17, 1900 - 1919)

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kimball (father deceased); born June 17, 1900, Middlefork, Clinton County, Ind. Following the death of his father, he made his home with an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whitecotton, Kokomo, Ind. Enlisted in Battery B, 150th Field Artillery in July, 1917. Overseas in October, 1917. The last word received from him was dated August 9, 1918, In May, 1919, message received that he had died from gun shot wounds, received accidentally, February 18, 1919, "in France."

Asa Henderson King (May 12, 1880 - June 6, 1919)

Son of William H. and Jane Mendenhall King; born May 12, 1880, Boone County, Ind. Moved to Clinton County in 1897. Artist and cartoonist. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 4, 1915, New York City. Sent to Ft. Jay, N. Y. for training; assigned to Company F, 29th Infantry.

Died of heart trouble June 6, 1919, Camp Gaillaird, Canal Zone.

Buried at Corozal, Panama.

Doyal Benton McAdams (November 1, 1895 - October 5, 1918)

Son of John E. and Jeanette Alice McAdams; born November 1, 1895, Forest, Clinton County, Ind. Teacher. Entered service June 25, 1918, Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 7th Company, 2nd Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Company C, 309th Engineers. Sailed for France September 9, 1918.

Died of pneumonia October 5, 1918, Razac, France.

Walter Byron McCune (August 20, 1893 - July 25, 1918)

Son of James Alexander and Emma Elizabeth McCune; born August 20, 1893, Sedalia, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service March 29, 1918, Delphi Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Company E, 112th Infantry, 28th Division. Overseas in May, 1918.

Killed in battle of Chateau-Thierry, July 25, 1918.

Son of Woodford and Fannie (Avery) Maddux ; born April 23, 1898, Frankfort, Ind. Florist. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army January 24, 1917, Lafayette, Ind. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; assigned to Company I, 20th Infantry.

Died of pneumonia April 1, 1918, Salt Lake, Utah.

Buried in Green Lawn Cemetery, Frankfort, Ind.

Herman A. McLeland (April 23, 1900 - December 7, 1918)

Son of Arthur and Youtha McLeland; born April 23, 1900 in Scircleville, Clinton County, Ind. Moved to Howard County in 1917. Educated in Indiana University. Entered service February 11, 1918; sent to Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. Later transferred to Camp Merritt, N. J. Transferred to the Medical Corps, and sent to Ellis Island to assist in nursing. Stricken with influenza, he died December 7, 1918.

Oss Russell Miller (January 4, 1896 - January 15, 1918)

Son of Truman and Capitola Miller; born January 4, 1896, near Kirklin, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 21, 1917, Frankfort, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to Battery C, 325th Field Artillery.

Died of appendicitis January 15, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky.

Arthur Herbert Pellam (November 15, 1886 - October 16, 1918)

Son of Austin J. and Sarah E. Pellam; born November 15, 1886, Boswell, Benton County, Ind. Moved to Clinton County in 1904. Farmer. Entered service March 28, 1918, Frankfort, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 13th Company, 4th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Upton, N. Y.; assigned to 38th Company, 152nd Depot Brigade.

Died of pneumonia October 16, 1918, Camp Upton, N. Y.

Manson Mearl Peters (October 22, 1899 - March 1, 1918)

Son of Stark and Elsie Peters; born October 22, 1899, Middle Fork, Clinton County, Ind. Living on a farm in Carroll County, when he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army July 25, 1917. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; assigned to 150th Ambulance Company.

Transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss., where he died of appendicitis March 1, 1918.

Buried in Geetingsville Cemetery, Clinton County, Ind.

Clifton Earl Peterson (November 7, 1895 - August 9, 1918)

Son of J. and Jessie Page Peterson; born November 7, 1895, Rice Lake, Wis. Moved to Clinton County, Ind., in 1906. Farmer. Entered service March 29, 1918, Frankfort, Ind. Trained at Camp Taylyr, Ky., and Camp Upton, N. Y.; assigned to Company D, 112th Infantry, 28th Division. Overseas May 7, 1918.

Killed in action August 9, 1918, Fismes, France.

Buried in American Cemetery No. 617, Field of Honor, Fismes, Marne.

Cecil Vernon Pickard (December 19, 1896 - October 6, 1918)

Son of Eli T. and Sarah Jane Pickard; born December 19, 1896, Pickard, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Living near Kempton, Tipton County, Ind., at time of enlistment in Indiana National Guard (Company 1, 151st Infantry) July 3, 1917. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. Embarked from Hoboken, N. J., June 12, 1918, with Replacement Unit. Assigned to Company H, 23rd Infantry, 2nd Division. Fought at Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel, and in Argonne Forest.

Killed in action October 6, 1918, in the Argonne Forest.

Died of pneumonia October 2, 1918, Camp Sherman, Ohio.

Killed in action July 10, 1918, near Chateau-Thierry, France.

Son of Charles E. and Ella Rothenberger; born December 10, 1894, Mulberry, Clinton County, Ind. Student at Purdue University. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army in Air Service November 3, 1917, Austin, Tex. Trained at Kelly Field, Tex. Sailed May 20, 1918. Rank: 2nd Lieutenant Instructor in Aerial Observation at Chatillon-sur-Seine, where he was accidentally killed September 4, 1918.

Buried at St. Thibault, France.

Paul E. Siegfried (April 17, 1902 - June 3, 1919)

Son of David and Hannah D. Lewis Siegfried; born April 17, 1902, Cambria, Clinton County, Ind. Hotel waiter. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army June 26, 1918. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo.; then to Camp Crane, Pa.; assigned to Automatic Replacement Draft Unit No. 19, Medical Department. Embarked September 17, 1917; assigned to Base Hospital No. 100, Savenay, France, where he was accidentally killed June 3, 1919.

Buried in American Cemetery No. 22, near Savenay.

Walter Louis Steckel (January 10, 1894 - October 10, 1918)

Son of Eli T. and Laura E. Steckel; born January 10, 1894, Atlanta, Hamilton County, Ind. Employe of Central Union Telephone Company. Entered service December 13, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky.; assigned to Aviation Section of Signal Corps Service; transferred to Kelly Field, Tex.; then to Eberts Field, Ark., where he died of pneumonia-meningitis, October 10, 1918.

Max Kenneth Stoms ( August 28, 1891 - November 16, 1918)

Son of Albert M. and Sarah E. Stoms; born August 28, 1891, Frankfort, Ind. Electrician. Entered service June 17, 1918, Cleveland, Ohio. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to Field Signal Corps, 3rd Division. Overseas September 18, 1918.

Died of wounds and pneumonia November 16, 1918, Ringbhousin, Germany.

Survived by widow, Hattie Stoms, Cleveland, Ohio.

Roy Stunkard (August 5, 1900 - July 25, 1918)

Son of Dock and Katherine (Clark) Stunkard; born August 5, 1900, Frankfort, Ind. Factory employee. Student. Enlisted in Company A, 1st Infantry, Indiana National Guard (Company A, 151st Infantry) September 6, 1917, Indianapolis. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss. Arrived in England July 4, 1918; assigned to Company G, 28th Infantry, 1st Division.

Wounded at Soissons July 15, 1918; died of wounds July 25, 1918.

Roy Franklin Vinard (October 3, 1899 - April 24, 1918)

Son of Benjamin F. and Alma E. Vinard; born October 3, 1899, Colfax, Clinton County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Navy, June 7, 1917, Indianapolis; assigned to the Louisiana, and was employed in coaling a ship when he was accidentally killed April 24, 1918. Rank: Seaman, 2nd Class

Killed in action October 9, 1918, in Argonne Forest.

Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; assigned to 13th Company, 4th Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade; transferred to Company D, 47th Infantry, 4th Division. Overseas May 22, 1918.

Died of wounds September 28, 1918 received in battle of Argonne Forest.

Buried at Cuisy, west of Verdun, France.

Oral Wisehart (November 27, 1892 - October 6, 1918)

Son of H. L. and Eveline Fouch Wisehart; born November 27, 1892, Forest Township, Clinton County, Ind. Barber. Enlisted in Indiana National Guard (Company I, 151st Infantry) August 25, 1917, Tipton, Ind. Trained at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., and Camp Shelby, Miss. Transferred to Machine Gun Company, 39th Infantry. Overseas June 11, 1918.

Died from wounds October 6, 1918 received in the battle of the Argonne Forest. Buried in Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France.

Clarence Wohlfeld (February 13, 1892 - July 15, 1918)

Son of Morris and Jennie Schwarts Wohlfeld; born February 13, 1892, Kansas City, Mo. Moved to Frankfort, Ind., in 1912. Manager of clothing establishment. Enlisted in Indiana National Guard, June 19, 1916, Frankfort, Ind. Trained at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind. and Camp Mineola, L. I.; assigned to Headquarters Company, 150th Field Artillery, Forty-second (Rainbow) Division. Overseas October 18, 1917.

Killed in action July 15, 1918, in battle of Champagne, Marne.

Buried near Challons, France.
