One way for Chaffey College to ensure the safety of our students and community is to conduct a background check on every student who applies for clinical placement.
The background check is evaluated at the national, state, and local levels. It validates your residence history, and reports any criminal records, aliases, health care or social security fraud, or records of abuse.
Your name, aliases, date of birth, and social security number will be used to perform this background check by an outside agency.
The report will be submitted to your digital profile identifying any areas of concern. Records are kept while students attend Chaffey College for up to 24 months. Students can download their own copy, and it is a good idea to review the report for accuracy.
A criminal background check is a legal investigation into a person’s past that helps inform decisions about whether to hire, promote, contract with, or use a person’s services.
Depending on the type of criminal background check selected, a criminal record check may search national, federal, state, and county databases to provide information about a candidate’s criminal history.
When creating your digital profile you will be prompted to enter identifying information so that a background check can be completed. The results of the background check will be sent directly to your digital profile for processing.
Fingerprint background checks involve comparing an applicant's fingerprints against state and federal fingerprint databases. These checks only look for prior arrests and crimes that are in the database. Most sites do not require fingerprinting for clinical placement, but this is often a condition of employment.
Step-by-step instructions for completing fingerprinting will be included in your digital profile. The results of the fingerprints will be mailed to you. Once results are received, you must upload a copy of your results to your digital profile for processing.
NOTE: Not all clinical sites require fingerprinting, so be sure to check your digital profile to see whether you need to complete this step.
The Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) is a database maintained by the Department of Justice, and contains a record of known and suspected child abusers. It has become a standard component of most background checks.
Step-by-step instructions for completing State Child Abuse History Clearance Applications will be included in your digital profile. Once results are received, you must upload a copy of this result to your digital profile for processing.
Once you've set up your digital profile, the compliance software provider will do the rest! No need for fingerprints or anything complicated.
The digital compliance software provider will order the background check from their secure agency, and the results will be reported right to your digital profile.
It can take a few weeks for the process, so be patient. Be sure to set up your digital profile early in the application process.
