Dr Mike Byrne
Climate Dynamics Lab, St Andrews
Overview
I lead the Climate Dynamics Lab at the University of St Andrews. We use theory, models and observations to understand the climate system. Recently we have been working to understand extreme temperatures in a warming climate, how clouds and water vapour influence monsoons, the dynamics of the tropical rainbelt, and why continents and oceans respond differently to climate change. For more information see my Publications, Google Scholar profile or drop me an email.
We are grateful to funding from UKRI, NERC, the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland, and the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 794063).
Hiring Postdocs in Extreme Temperatures / Climate Change
Summary: We are seeking postdoctoral researchers to join an ERC-funded project focused on extreme temperatures ("GLOBAL-EX"). The project goal is to use a hierarchy of climate models, observations and physical theory to advance scientific understanding of extreme temperatures in a changing climate. You will join a GLOBAL-EX team of 4-5 researchers and will have flexibility to work on aspects of the project that align with your research interests and experience.
