Who can participate in the research lab?
The lab is open to youths aged 18-35 who have a keen interest in climate science, public health, or environmental studies. We welcome participants from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
How do I apply to join the research lab?
You can apply by filling out an online application form on our website. The application includes personal information, academic background, and a short essay on why you are interested in joining the lab.
What kind of projects will I work on in the lab?
Participants will work on a team with assigned thematic areas including but not limited to studying the effects of air pollution on respiratory health, analyzing climate data to predict health outcomes, and developing community action plans to mitigate climate change impacts.
Do I need any prior experience or knowledge to join the lab?
No prior experience is necessary. We provide all the training and resources you need to participate in our projects. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are the most important requirements.
How long is the program, and what is the time commitment?
The program runs for 20 weeks. All participants must go through 4 weeks of research training with experts, only exceptional participants will be selected to join the hands on research mentorship for the remaining 16 weeks. This includes lab work, presentations, and team meetings and are expected to commit 2-5 hours per week.
Is there a cost to participate in the lab?
Participation in the lab is free. We provide all necessary research resources. However, participants are responsible for any personal expenses for technology connection, hardware or access to paywall research articles.
Will I receive any form of recognition or certification for participating?
Yes, all participants who score at least 80% in the end-of-course evaluation will receive a certificate of completion. Participants who complete the requirements for the hands on research mentorship projects may be featured in our annual research summit, and participants can earn community service hours.
