Africa stands at a defining moment in its climate and development journey. While climate impacts are intensifying across cities and communities, the continent faces a persistent shortage of skilled human capital to drive effective climate action and green economic transformation. Young people are increasingly aware of climate challenges, yet many lack access to structured pathways that build practical solutions, professional experience, and connections to green employment opportunities.
Ecogig is a cohort-based initiative designed to bridge the knowledge and skills gap by transforming African youths into competent, work-ready green professionals.
The Goal of Ecogig is to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled green talents who can drive climate-resilient development, green jobs, and inclusive growth across Africa.
The programme objectives are to:
Strengthen climate and sustainability literacy among young Africans
Build practical, sector-relevant green skills
Support youth-led solutions to real climate challenges
Facilitate transition into green jobs, fellowships, entrepreneurship, or advanced leadership pathways
Key Programme Features
Ecogig is strategically designed to empower a diverse audience across Africa (priority: women and underrepresented groups). It welcome application from:
Youth and young professionals (18–35 years)
Students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals
Community leaders and sustainability enthusiasts
