Understanding a situation means more than looking at it as it stands today. My approach is systemic, across space and time:• Across time: I trace the past decisions and factors that produced the current situation, then consider several possible futures.• Across space: I connect the local, national, regional and international levels.Each analysis leads to scenarios (the most likely, the most favorable, the riskiest) and practical recommendations for action.

Civil society actor, researcher, writer and independent analyst, I have worked for about ten years on democratic governance, electoral processes and conflict prevention in the DRC. My path runs from citizen engagement (Vivre Autrement) to electoral reform (IFES, iREVE), the creation of the Observatory of Democracy in Africa, and local governance (GIZ). I read political realities across space and time, to inform concrete decisions. Read more
